Online Lectio Divina

cc lectiodivina01 450Listen to the Word. Open the heart. Be transformed.

Each Friday morning, a virtual community gathers to prayerfully reflect on the Gospel of the coming Sunday.

Lectio Divina — meaning divine reading — is an ancient way of praying with Scripture, practised by the early monks and embraced by the first Carmelite hermits. Rather than simply studying a biblical text, we slow down, listen deeply and open ourselves to what God may be saying to us through the Word.

“Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
— 1 Samuel 3:9

Our gathering begins with prayer and the reading of the Gospel, followed by insights from Fr David Hofman O.Carm to help us enter more deeply into the text. There is then an opportunity for those who wish to share their reflections, before we bring our prayers together in intercession and conclude with a final prayer.

Fr David also prepares weekly Lectio notes offering a closer look at the Gospel, its liturgical setting and a reflection to accompany your prayer during the week.

No previous experience of Lectio Divina is necessary. Come as you are, listen to the Word and share in the prayer of the community.
