Br Anacleto Guterres Da Costa has been approved to graduate as a Master of Theological Studies by the University of Divinity. The approval came during the end-of-year Eucharist at Yarra Theological Union, one of the member colleges of the University, on 22 November. Along with other graduands, Anacleto received a certificate and a candle acknowledging their achievement. Also present at the Mass were Anacleto’s brother, Fr Narcizio Da Costa Villanova, Br Daryl Moresco and Fr David Hofman.
Anacleto joined the Carmelites in 2010. Following postulancy and novitiate, he made his first profession of vows in 2014 and began his Bachelor of Philosophy degree in Timor. After graduating, he came to Australia in 2019 and began English language studies following which he began the Bachelor of Theology degree in at the University of Divinity, Melbourne. Anacleto completed the bachelor’s degree in 2022 and began his studies for the Master of Theological Studies degree. He made his Solemn Profession of Vows in 2023 and was ordained deacon in July this year.
