Fr Matthew Tonini is accompanying a group of St Vincent de Paul pilgrims on their journey from Brisbane to Lisbon for World Youth Day.
The group stopped in Paris to visit sites associated with St Vincent. At Sacre Cuore, Montmartre, Matthew celebrated Mass for the group in the crypt on the memorial of St Titus Brandsma, 27 July. It was here that another Carmelite, St Thérèse of Lisieux, visited on her journey to Rome to ask the Pope’s permission to join the Carmelites because of her age.
Later in the day the group enjoyed a meal in one of the many local bistros.
